Welcome to my homepage. Like most web pages, the loose thread holding together the information and links presented here is the eclectic background of the author. By day, I help manage a family farm, and broker spot cotton in the Northernmost tip of the Delta - Peach Orchard, MO. By night, I'm a freelance blues and jazz writer and semi-pro musician, blowing sax and harp with the 10 piece band from hell (no, that's not their name, just a description).
I received my B.S. in Psychology from The University of the South, one of behaviorism's last refuges, and then began work on my M.S. in Psychology at Memphis State. After finishing my requirements, I became disenchanted with academia (and my department), and immediately put my vast education to use by accepting the position of Program Director for WEVL- the last REAL radio station, and playing harmonica full time. Several years of the "glamorous" life in non-commercial radio and being a bar band hero led me back to my roots here in Peach Orchard, where I manage to balance my interest in music with economic reality.

I can't resist putting a plug here for our local school. Although Southeast Missouri is seldom listed as a center for high culture, educational opportunity or vast wealth, our local school has risen head and shoulders over most public educational institutions. We're awfully proud of what they have acheived, and they have attracted statewide attention as a premier example of what can happen if a community gets involved with their school. The school has a dedicated, energetic staff, which includes my lovely and talented wife as of 1998. The students (including my son Blake) and staff have put together a web page that offers a quick glimpse of what's going on in Gideon, MO - the cultural capitol of Southern New Madrid County.
